A Special Moment in Time...

Hey! Hope you all are doing ok…with all the madness going on in our world right now…I wanted to share a magical moment that happened to me…in hopes of making you smile and give you some hope in a higher power. The story below actually happened during the Christmas season a few years ago...

Yoshi and I had gone to Jonahs's tree and bench to do my usual Christmas decorating... As I started to unpack the garland, there was a man and his brown young dog walking towards us from the path that goes around the pond…Yoshi noticed them first and went running, I yelled out that he was a friendly pup! The guy said OK thanks! 

The 2 puppies immediately started jumping, running around and biting each other's faces in a fun way as young dogs love to do….The man continues walking towards me and stands there as I begin to decorate the bench…so I shared that I did this every year in honor of my son Jonah who had passed away…he quietly said…” I lost my son too” …my heart immediately broke for him… I solemnly responded…

“I am so sorry and I understand your loss, when did this happen?”…He replied in 2016…my heart skipped a beat…"That is the same year I lost my Jonah" I said…he then went on to talk about how his only son had died (he hit a deer while driving his motorcycle) as he was choking up, he shared that he and his son were very close…in that moment, my mind went to thinking about the love I have for my youngest son Shane and how thankful I am to have him…

All the time we talked, the pups were playing around us as we shared beautiful love stories of our sons…After Jonah's tree and bench were fully installed and I sat there for the first time... I said a prayer requesting that whoever sat on the bench could feel love...the love I had for my son…

When we parted ways, I told this kind man to take care of himself and that it was an honor to speak to him…as I was finishing up my decorating... pondering about what just occurred…he turned around came back and asked me my name again…he wanted me to know that what I had done regarding the memorial bench and tree...he respectfully said"I have to tell you that you have done a beautiful thing for your son" and then he and his puppy walked away…

After this all happened, my mind was in such a state of peace and love… I sat down on the bench looked up to the sky smiling, with tears rolling down my cheeks…feelings of gratitude filled my heart… for this shared time I had just had with this man who had experienced the same heartache as me and yes his pup was a perfect playdate for my Yoshi…I know God put us in each other's path that day...I felt it deep within my soul…God is Good…Always my dear peeps…

Keep your chins up in these challenging times and remember that the Holiest and most powerful of Spirits is within each of you... Don't forget to respect differences of opinions and to be kind to each other...you never know what battle another person is struggling with.
